3 Way Injury

Well this week was the week of injury, namely BRUISES for these 3 kids!

Take a Look:

Reuben had a run in with the 'condemned' playground equipement at school. It was really something traumatic for all the kids in his class! Some parents even called here because their child was so upset seeing Reuben's sore eye! PLUS, me, the negligent mother, my cell phone was off (I was in the Library) so when the school called me to come pick him up......they had to call Aunt Lisa and she had to come. Reuben recovered very quickly - although returned to the dramatics for this picture!

Notice Mason's ear.... I guess I should have taken a picture with both his ears on, then you would notice better just how much this ear really is sticking out!! Poor little man. I was right there when this happened - 3 year old chasing 5 year old in circles around the coffee table...... you guessed it the coffee table won. Mason fell right on the edge, he came stumbling to me crying, and as he sat in my lap I watched this bruise develop. It was crazy it travelled so quickly black throughout his ear and then it swelled... we put a bag of frozen peas on it, his major concern was that his ear would freeze off!! He too recovered very quickly and soon after was out side playing in the snow.... poor little man!

Oh and then there's this little monkey. She doesn't look hurt!! Well her's was less severe. She was sitting up - as she can only just do as of yesterday.... CHEERS.... anyway, she's still a little wabbly and Mason was laying too close, down she want and boom they bonked heads. She has a tiny bruise on her forhead. Again I was sitting right there I grabbed her and was holding her before she even realized it hurt. She had a stunned look on her face and then a very sad look and then the tears as only the Hill children can produce, tears like a shower!! Poor little sweety. She too was over it in less then 30 seconds!! Big Girl, first booboo!

Beppe

This past week was a really rough week for Beppe. Last weekend she fell and lost conciousness for a long time. The doctors were about to help her out of that, but she is too sick to take care of herself anymore. So she probably won't be able to live at home anymore. When she is ready to come out of the hospital she will have to live somewhere, where they can take care of her, make her meals and give her the proper medications. Reuben enjoys going to the the hospital with Daddy to see Beppe, he notices that she is comfortable, happier and cared for there. It's our prayer that she will continue to experience that comfort from her eternal comforter for the rest of her life here on earth.

I Can Read

Last week in Reuben's mailbag from school there was a book. Reuben proudly announced that he could READ that book. Sure enough, he pulled it out right there in the school parking lot he read me the following book:

I was so proud of him. I can hardly believe that day has already arrived were my baby can read a book to me!! What a big boy!

A Mason Funny

Tonight on the way to church, Mason and Reuben were arguing, as is par for the course these days, when suddenly Reuben says, "Mom, Mason says he doesn't like girls." To which Mason quickly responded, "Nope, I don't." So I asked him why he doesn't like girls. "Mommy, girls are boring." So I asked him, "Mason, where would you get that from, who told you that?" Mason replied in his ever so serious tone, "God did, he did, really he did Mom." Darren and I were laughing in the front seat of the van..... Sure Mason, we both thought. Mason loves to confirm things he strongly believes. I hear at least 10 times a day (on many different subjects) "I did Mom, reallly I did." Such a funny boy you are Mason.

Happy New Year, 2008!

Happy New Year!! Wow I can hardly believe that we are facing 2008 already. Time flies. Today Reuben was asking about 2008 - what does that mean to a 5 year old? Reuben asked me what year I was born in, 1976 - what does that mean? - was his response..... It's hard to believe that in 5 short years my whole life has changed so dramatically. Praise the Lord for the blessing of children. New Year's Eve always brings time of reflection on the previous year.... 2007 - a year of birth, Julianna Harmene June 13, 2007, a year of death, Uncle John Bokma April 28, 2007, anticipation of yet another Sytsma Baby - May 2008. Reuben completed his first year of school. The big milestones already begun. It's my prayer that 2008 will be a blessed year for our family.
This morning I thought it would be a good time to get some pictures of the kids... always a difficult task, there always seems to be one who's not into it! Here's the result:

Reuben, Mason & Julianna - what cuties

Typical Reuben style!

Mason's not feeling the best today :(

Julianna, ALWAYS with the tongue.

God's Blessings to all in 2008.
